Sammy's catered our wedding eve dinner for family and friends in our home. Manny arrived with prepared food, serving dishes, plates, utensils, ice - EVERYTHING - and also served. As the bride and groom-to-be, we didn't have to turn on the oven, open the fridge, or wash a dish. He helped us make everyone feel so welcome and helped keep their glasses full. The crowd loved the brisket, turkey, mac & cheese, and spinach salad so much there were just a few bites left. And I almost missed the amazing peach cobbler. It was such a relief to trust dinner to Sammy's - I highly recommend them to feed any crowd that appreciates good Texas BBQ! Since we didn't have the leftovers we hoped for, we went to Sammy's for a delicious chopped brisket sandwich lunch after the weekend's festivities.

You gotta love a place that puts the Gonzales Flag on its takeaway cups. But Sammy's also has a great room (albeit with odd temperature zones), good eats and friendly workers who checked on us repeatedly while we lingered for hours. Good prices, I suppose (cheaper than where I'm from, if not inexpensive). The brisket and jalapeño sausage were quite good, the pork loin was fine and the sauce was not really that exciting (sweeter and less piquant than I prefer). The sides I had (mac and cheese and potato casserole) looked a lot better than they actually were. Portions were generous for the price. Certainly not the ridiculous crowds one sees at some places on a Saturday. I'd certainly return and I'd bring others (I could go for more of that brisket right now, the next morning). Looking forward to doing so on my next trip to the neighborhood, in fact.

We went around 1:30 on Friday afternoon for lunch. That probably says most if we're talking about the brisket that was left on the day. The brisket wasn't the most flavorful and a little more fatty than I'd liked, but there has to be some fat for the flavor. They also didn't have fried okra, which I heard was a go-to for sides. I had the brisket plate with zucchini casserole. Think of stuffing mixed with steamed zucchini. For not being a zucchini fan, I was surprised at the taste and consistency. Thick and filling as you'd expect, I recommend! The service was speedy and although I asked for someone lean to the brisket, it was more fatty. The place would be a great venue for happy hour if there was an additional bar, but it looks like the offer music at certain points in time during the week. Went here for lunch with a co-worker. The place has a super chill vibe with indoor/outdoor seating. The staff was very friendly and ordering was quick and easy cafeteria style. They have the basic meats and a good variety of sides. I had the brisket which was done well enough (no puns here). I did need sauce with it as it was on the dry side. I really really enjoyed my sides though. The Zucchini casserole in particular was yummy. It's a good spot for a casual meal.

Love this place! I always order moist brisket, German sausage, fried okra (OMG, the best!!!!), and salad. Very busy place, but the line moves fast. I highly recommend it. The guy at the register (maybe owner) is incredibly friendly and always genuinely thanks you for your business. No need to go anywhere else. Quality, taste, cost, and customer service never disappoint!
